Meet Marni Moreau

Clarksburg-raised community builder living in Craigleith with diverse local perspectives.

Legacy of Family Service

Marni Moreau grew up in a Clarksburg family dedicated to service, learning early the value of community ties that define The Blue Mountains.

Her father, Peter Moreau, is a former councillor who was the key fundraiser for the Beaver Valley Community Centre, Moreau Park, and LE Shore Library.

Her late mother, Barbara, was an RN at Errinrung and was a decades-long volunteer for Beaver Valley Outreach and Beaver Valley Athletic Association.

Successful Business Career

With deep local roots and 25+ years of experience outside of the region, building partnerships and delivering results, she’s ready to bring steady, practical leadership to Town Hall.

  • 25+ years in senior sales and media partnerships by building trust and negotiating positive outcomes for all parties

  • Success in growing her advertising portfolio at Rogers Sportsnet by over 40%

  • National top-performer in sales at CMH Heli-Skiing

  • Co-founder, Blue Mountain Film and Media Festival (now in its fifth year)

Marni earned an Honours degree in History from Western University and spent time working in Japan before building her career in Toronto. She excelled in high-stakes media and sales, managing partnerships for brands like Tim Hortons, Ford, and TD Bank. She later returned home to raise her blended family of four boys, committed to the kind of community where neighbours look out for each other. She’s also a non-denominational wedding officiant, helping people mark life’s biggest moments.

Integrity and Conflict of Interest For Elected Officials

  • As mayor, my duty is to you, not to any company.

  • My husband is Dan Skelton, President of Blue Mountain Resorts, essentially the ski hills.

  • I have read Ontario’s Municipal Conflict of Interest Act, and it gives clear rules about when an elected official must declare an interest and step away from a vote, and I will follow that law.

  • The Town has an Integrity Commissioner that any resident or official can contact and ask for an official decision on any perceived conflict.

  • Blue Mountain Resort is an 80-year-old business that came before the Council 4 times in the last 4 years.

  • All of the commercial buildings in the Blue Mountain village are owned by Maurice Byrne’s company, Bydem. It, in turn, leases to businesses. Blue Mountain Resorts leases two stores from Bydem (Starbucks and North Face). Independent owners comprise the majority of businesses in the Village.

  • One of the principles of the Act is “There is a benefit to municipalities and local boards when members have a broad range of knowledge and continue to be active in their own communities, whether in business, in the practice of a profession, in community associations, and otherwise.”

I grew up in this region and I understand how closely our lives are tied to local jobs, farms, small businesses, and tourism.

Family & Friends

Marni is married to her husband, Dan Skelton. Sons, partners of sons, and lots of friends mean there is always a lot of activity at the house.

Marni Moreau for Mayor

As Mayor, Marni will lead with respect, transparency, and fiscal responsibility. She brings people together to solve problems and make decisions efficiently that stand the test of time. She’ll focus full-time on responsible growth, protecting what makes our community special, and delivering value for taxpayers, including full-time and part-time residents of all ages, east to west, because everyone deserves to feel heard and represented.

Our mayor, our issues.
